Just a few days after the American Airlines plane and Black Hawk helicopter collided near Washington, near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Friday, January 31, 2025, a medical Learjet 55 plane crashed. There were six people on board, including a child patient, confirmed by the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Details of the crash are still being clarified, but according to several sources, the plane crashed approximately 30 seconds after takeoff.

Donald Trump expressed condolences that night in a statement on social media, which read: «So sad to see a plane crash in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Even more innocent souls lost. Our people are fully engaged. Credit is already given to the first responders for their excellent work. There will be more to come. God bless you all».

According to NBC Philadelphia, Jet Rescue Air Ambulance — the company operating the crashed Learjet 55 plane — stated in a statement: «We cannot confirm the presence of survivors». According to the statement, at least six unidentified individuals were treated at a local hospital.

All those on board the medical plane were from Mexico, according to NBC. The final destination of the flight was Tijuana after a stop in Missouri. The medical plane took off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport.

There were six people on board: the child patient, her mother, the pilot, co-pilot, doctor, and paramedic.

Details of how the crash occurred are still unclear. However, according to NBC Philadelphia, air traffic control lost contact with the plane shortly after takeoff clearance.

In a statement obtained by several sources, Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia confirmed that one of their patients and her mother were on board the plane at the time of the crash.

«The patient was receiving treatment at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia and was returning to her native country of Mexico on a chartered medical flight when the crash occurred», - Shriners explained in the statement. «Due to patient confidentiality, we cannot provide more information about the patient and her family at this time. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the medical crew and pilots who also perished in this tragic event, as well as to all those affected on the ground — and we are grateful to the first responders for their quick response».
