Katy Perry celebrated Mother’s Day by reflecting on the beginning of motherhood. On May 12, the 39-year-old singer of the hit «Firework» posted a carousel of photos on Instagram, including the moment when she told her American Idol colleagues, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, that she was pregnant.
«So, you can’t tell anyone, but I’m very pregnant», - whispered Katy to Luke, 47, and Lionel, 74, in a clip included in her post. Both raised their hands for a high five and hugged Katy as she shed a few tears.
Throughout the gallery of the post, Katy included other snapshots from her journey since finding out she was pregnant with Daisy, who is now 3 years old. The first slide showed her positive pregnancy test, followed by an emotional video call between Katy and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom. Other photos in the post included pictures of her pregnant belly.
In the caption, Katy wrote: «Today I told my mom that the day I realized how much she loved me was the day I became a mother myself, Daisy Dove… there’s nothing like a mother’s love… never take it for granted… Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and caregivers — no matter who you are».
She also listed memories accompanying each slide, starting with «1. Positive test! 2. Message to O that I’m pregnant (he was filming in Prague) 3. Katy and Orlando welcomed their daughter in August 2020. They decided to keep Daisy away from the public eye as much as possible. However, the «Pirates of the Caribbean» actor brought Daisy to one of her mother’s Las Vegas concerts in November 2023.
