Katy Perry will receive the Vanguard award at the 2024 Video Music Awards

Katy Perry is awarded the Vanguard Award at the 2024 Video Music Awards ceremony on Thursday, September 11, in New York. The 39-year-old pop star has won the VMA five times and previously hosted the awards ceremony in 2017.
«Katy is a musical genius and a true pop culture icon», - said Paramount+ Music President Bruce Gilmer in a press release. «With her revolutionary creative vision, she has become a global phenomenon and conquered the biggest stages in the world. Katy’s artistry will be fully showcased live at the VMA with a memorable performance dedicated to her brightest moments and chart-topping hits».
During the upcoming ceremony, Katy will also perform some of her most popular hits, confirmed by MTV. Earlier this month, the «Roar» singer released her latest single «Lifetimes», - as well as another single «Woman's World», - which was released in July. Both tracks will be included in her upcoming album «Woman's World», - which will be released after the VMA on September 20.

Katy’s music career is rapidly evolving. After completing her residency in Las Vegas at the end of 2023, she announced her departure from American Idol earlier this year. Since then, the reality show has replaced the «Firework» artist with former Idol contestant Carrie Underwood as a judge.
After leaving her judging role, Katy is spending time with her family — husband Orlando Bloom and their daughter Daisy, whom they welcomed in 2020. Katy and the «Pirates of the Caribbean» star, 47-year-old Orlando, have been together since 2016 and announced their engagement in 2019. Earlier this week, Katy shared a video on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse into their life together with Orlando. In the clip, they jump together from a helicopter into the ocean.
