Katy Perry has talked about her new single «Woman's World», - which promotes female empowerment, after receiving criticism for working with men, including Dr. Luke, who was involved in a legal dispute with Kesha.

The 39-year-old singer sings: «This is a woman’s world, and you’re lucky to live in it (Uh-huh, uh-huh) / This is a woman’s world, and you’re lucky to live in it (Uh-huh, uh-huh; you better) / You better mark it (Mark it) / 'Cause, baby, we ain’t going nowhere (Oh) / This is a woman’s world, and you’re lucky to live in it (Uh-huh)». The music video, released on Friday, July 12, showcases a woman’s world where the singer «Firework» embodies an inner Rosie the Riveter and wakes up in a destructive world, where viewers meet internet personality Trisha Paytas making a cameo.

The song carries the power of women, but many internet users did not like the process of its creation. One user commented online on Katy’s post: «It was written by six people, four of whom are men. It was produced by three men, one of whom is Dr. Luke, who has been accused of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse by Kesha. The video was also directed by a man. LOL».

This, of course, prompted the California girl to share that the concept was simply «satirical». Despite all the comments, she revealed in an Instagram video on set: «We're a little sarcastic… It’s very tongue-in-cheek. And with this set, we, ooo, we’re not male gaze-oriented, but we are actually male gaze. And we’re really playing with that, which for me is a reset, and a reset of my perception of the divine feminine».

Fans were disappointed with the artist because they felt she wanted to create a song about female empowerment without involving a female team in creating the music video. One user commented: «A song about female empowerment, created by Dr. Luke?»

The 50-year-old producer was not seen as a good representation to bring this song to life due to his legal dispute with Kesha after accusations from the «Tik Tok» singer that he drugged and assaulted her
