Kesha celebrated her song No. 1 «TiK ToK» in a video she appropriately posted on TikTok with a bottle of Jack.
The pop star, 37, marked the 15th anniversary of her debut single «TiK ToK», which topped the charts on August 7, by posting a video of herself brushing her teeth with Jack Daniels whiskey poured on a silver Spotify plaque marking 1 billion streams of the 2009 single.
In the beginning of the video, the singer enters the bathroom with a Spotify plaque marking 1 billion streams of her 2013 hit «Timber», before jokingly exclaiming, «Damn. Wrong one», and grabbing the correct plaque to make the iconic reference to the first line of the song: «Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack / 'Cause when I leave for the night, I ain’t coming back».
«Swallow, don’t spit it out», she joked in the caption.
The video came after Kesha posted a heartfelt message about the creation and success of «TiK ToK», which spent nine weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and sold over eight million copies in the US since its release from her debut album «Animal» in 2010.
«'TiK ToK' was the first single I put out into the world with my voice and my name!!! I remember making it fun and joyful because that’s how I felt and wanted others to feel», she wrote.
She continued: «What makes me so proud is that this song still makes me feel that way, through all of this, and these are the emotions I want us all to join in.
«That girl was naive, wild, and playful. This song outwardly reflects a side of me that I love very much, and now I see that I must protect her with fire», reflected the artist of «Praying», mentioning that like her, «the world has changed so much».
She also added that she will rewrite her song, which originally starts with the words «Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy», with an alternative first line, as the rapper has faced several civil lawsuits accusing him of human trafficking, sexual harassment, and rape, which he categorically denies.
Since the accusations were made against Diddy in November 2023, Kesha changed the opening line of the song to «Wake up in the morning feeling like damn P. Diddy» in live performances. She first sang the alternative version when performing with René Rapp on stage at Coachella in March.
