Kelsey Parker, the widow of Tom Parker, reflects on the loss of her newborn son, Phoenix, in honor of Baby Loss Awareness Week. On October 9, Kelsey wrote on Instagram: «A year ago, I gave birth to my son Phoenix at home. When he came into this world, he had already left it. I will carry this with me for the rest of my life».
Kelsey described that day as «the worst day of my life» and noted that she felt as though she had done something wrong. She added: «I constantly think about those hours. What breaks my heart even more is the realization that somewhere another mom is going through the same thing. That’s why I will never stop talking about Phoenix».
Kelsey emphasized that no parent should have to fight for «dignity, kindness, and compassion» after losing a child. She urged professionals who meet families in the early hours after a loss to be mindful of their words and actions, as they stay with parents forever.
Kelsey and Tom married in 2018, four years before his death from stage IV glioblastoma. They have two children: Aurelia, 7, and Bodhi, 5. In 2025, Kelsey shared about the loss of her son Phoenix, whom she gave birth to with partner Will Lindsay. They later became parents to a «rainbow baby» named River, who was born in September.
Kelsey continues her grieving journey, striving to be the best mother to her other children. She promised to never stop talking about Phoenix, writing: «Phoenix, I will spend the rest of my life making sure your little life mattered».
