Look, nobody likes to admit it, but we’ve all been in that situation before. You’re relaxing by the pool, swimming a few lengths, and suddenly you realize: all the water you’ve been drinking is heading straight for your bladder, and now you need to pee. You’re faced with a tough choice: get out and run to the bathroom or just pee in the pool. Katie Ledecky shared that she’s not the type to pee in the pool during a fun conversation with Leslie Jones at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris for NBC Sports.
Katie and the Saturday Night Live alum talked about her passion for swimming, and Leslie confessed she had a burning question. «I have to ask you this because I’m looking at this pool and I see how long those lanes are», - she said. «How do you not pee in the pool?»
Katie seemed a bit embarrassed, but she said she’s definitely not one to just pee in the pool. «I definitely don’t do that!» she replied.
Of course, even if you don’t see it as a moral dilemma, whether you should pee in the pool, there’s always the question of how decent everyone else swimming is. Let’s be honest, we’ve all seen someone who looks suspicious. Although the gold medalist herself doesn’t do it, Leslie wanted to make sure everyone else follows the rule. «So nobody pees in the pool?» she said. «If you pee in my pool, you’re peeing in my life, and I can’t allow that».
Katie admitted that while she’s not sure, it’s not the main thought for her. «I definitely can’t speak for other people», - she said. «I try not to think about it».
Before they moved on to bladder-related questions, Katie talked about her love for the sport and showed that she’s really in it because of her love for the water. «I could do this sport without competitions. I love it so much. I just love spending most of my day by the pool»
