Katie Thurston, star of the show «The Bachelor», - defended her decision to get engaged to Jeff Alcuri just five months after their relationship began. In an interview with the podcast «Not Married to This», - she shared that their first date took place in May 2024, and the engagement occurred in August of the same year. The couple married in March 2025 in their empty apartment in New York City.
According to Us magazine, Jeff proposed during a romantic walk on the famous Secret Beach in Kauai, Hawaii. Previously, Katie was engaged to Blake Moynes, but their relationship ended two months after the finale of Season 17 of «The Bachelor» in August 2021.
A few weeks after Katie was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in February 2025, she and Jeff exchanged vows at a private ceremony in their backyard on March 22, 2025. Later, the cancer progressed to stage four, and in April, Katie underwent a double mastectomy.
Katie noted that their long-distance relationship helped accelerate the development of their feelings, and she made the decision to move to New York to be with Jeff. She emphasized that in long-term relationships, there is no «intimacy that could cloud judgment», - and that they both knew what they wanted.
Katie also spoke about the challenges they faced when moving, as Jeff’s apartment turned out to be too small. The couple rented a new place without seeing it, due to her diagnosis, which changed their travel plans.
Jeff mentioned that Katie’s treatment affected their plans for starting a family, adding that it creates a contrast between the dark side of their lives and the desire to create new life. Additionally, Katie confirmed that she is recovering from a chin liposuction procedure but clarified that she does not intend to influence her followers with her decision.
