Former NFL player Casey Redfern passed away at the age of 35 after a long battle with brain cancer. He died on October 13, just weeks after being moved to hospice care on September 26, which coincided with his 35th birthday.
Casey’s wife, Loril, regularly shared updates about her husband’s condition on social media, including an emotional post at the end of September in which she described the difficult journey they faced. She reported that after consulting with doctors, the decision was made to transition to hospice care to ensure Casey’s maximum comfort.
Loril noted that Casey’s declining condition was related to cognitive decline caused by neurotoxicity from treatments he had undergone over the past three and a half years. She emphasized that moving to hospice care would allow her to better care for him without the distractions of medical procedures.
Casey Redfern was diagnosed with brain tumors and lymphoma in August 2023. A GoFundMe campaign was created in support of the family, raising over $ 53,000. During his career from 2014 to 2019, Casey played for seven NFL teams, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Diego Chargers, Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys, and Atlanta Falcons.
