Kate Beckinsale has officially returned to work! The 50-year-old English actress made her comeback on the red carpet two months after being hospitalized, attending the King’s Trust Global Gala Evening in New York on Thursday, May 2. For the occasion, Kate wore a stunning ivory dress that resembled waves.
The dress had a high slit, and she paired it with white heels. The top of the dress left her waist exposed, creating draping from the shoulder to the hips. The outfit also included a long train. The «Pearl Harbor» star completed her look with a black bow in her hair and long, straight diamond earrings.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the event, Kate shared how «difficult» the past few months had been for her. However, she did not specify the unknown illness she apparently went through.
«It's been a tough year», - she told reporters. «Because both my parents have been ill, and my cat… there’s been a lot of stuff. So it’s nice to see friends and get a little perspective. I think everyone’s had a tough year».
In March, Kate shocked her social media followers by posting a tearful selfie taken in the hospital. She shared the post in honor of Mother’s Day in the UK and her mother Judy Loe’s birthday.
«Thank you to those who love us and support us when things are bad, and try to make a little good», - she captioned the now-deleted post. «And for taking care of our dogs when we can’t, and reminding us of happy moments when we can’t. And coming when we’re sick, and sitting with us… And sending balloons and caring and pulling us out of wells with love. Thank you for loving us and especially for my mom’s ability to joy. It’s so inspiring and beautiful. Happy to all, mom. Your fight for joy, despite tears, is like watching a warrior from the inside. I love you».
