Kimberly Guilfoyle has stepped down as U.S. ambassador to Greece
Kimberly Guilfoyle announced her resignation as the U.S. ambassador to Greece amid allegations of misconduct. In her message on X on October 13, she expressed gratitude to President Trump and Secretary Rubio, noting that she is proud of her accomplishments and will remain a devoted supporter of Trump and his mission.

Guilfoyle’s resignation followed after White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia confirmed at her first press conference that President Trump and the administration had asked her to resign. Zacharia noted that Guilfoyle was a valuable member of the team and wished her well.

Earlier this month, The Wall Street Journal reported that Guilfoyle asked Trump donor Eric Deter to pay off her $ 100,000 debt on her American Express credit card shortly before her confirmation hearing in the Senate in July 2025. In messages reviewed by the publication, Guilfoyle requested Deter to transfer the money directly to American Express, claiming that such a transaction would leave no trace. Deter stated that he did not make this payment.

In her resignation statement, Guilfoyle denied the allegations, calling them false and promising to actively defend her reputation. Her attorney, Jesse Binnall, previously challenged the authenticity of the messages, claiming that his client had been compensated for participating in events prior to her appointment and «was owed for travel and support of those patriotic events».

Guilfoyle, who was previously engaged to Donald Trump Jr., also expressed pride in her work as the U.S. ambassador to Greece and supported Trump’s agenda ahead of the upcoming midterm elections on November 3. In her final social media post, she thanked the people of Greece for their hospitality and expressed hope for blessings for President Trump and American diplomats.
