Kimberly Conrad, the ex-wife of Hugh Hefner, paid tribute to the late Playboy founder amid ongoing criticism of the upcoming film «Playmates» starring Jessica Biel. In her Instagram post on October 10, Conrad, who is 64 years old, wrote: «I was married to Hef for over 21 years. We shared a life full of wonderful memories, raised two amazing sons, and had a deep love that remained strong until his passing on September 27, 2017, and continues to this day».
Kimberly was married to Hefner from 1989 to 2010, although they separated in 1998. They have two sons — Marston Hefner, 36, founder of Young Magazine, and Cooper Hefner, 35, former creative director of Playboy. In her post, Conrad noted that she often told Hef that his name and picture could be in the dictionary next to the word «gentleman». She added that Hef was «a true gentleman, kind, loving, generous, and a man of exceptional character».
Conrad also commented on her late husband’s legacy amid the debates surrounding the film «Playmates», - which tells the story of a 13-year-old girl befriending a budding Playmate at the Playboy mansion. Bill Pullman will portray Hugh Hefner in the film, while Biel will depict a former Playmate who became Hefner’s wife. Biel’s character will be fictional and not based on any of Hefner’s three real wives.
Crystal Harris, Hefner’s third wife, previously urged Biel to turn down the role, fearing that the film might romanticize Hef or the world of Playboy. She claimed to have experienced sexual, emotional, financial, and physical abuse in their relationship and that many other women had also voiced allegations of abuse and exploitation at the Playboy mansion.
The film «Playmates» currently does not have an official release date.
