Four years after his passing, Kobe Bryant is still remembered as a father, husband, son, friend, teammate, basketball player, and Olympian.

In honor of the Olympic Games that will take place in California in 2028 — the state where the former Los Angeles Lakers player lived — his widow Vanessa Bryant paid tribute to the memory of her late husband and daughter Gianna Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash. Vanessa, also the mother of their daughters Natalia, Bianka, and Capri, included the emblem that embodies the true Mamba mentality.

«Mamba mentality» means «constantly striving to be the best version of yourself… That’s the essence of the mentality. It’s a relentless pursuit to be better today than yesterday», - Kobe shared during his press tour for Mamba Mentality, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Now the logo reads «LA 28», - with the letter «A» designed in purple and yellow colors, with the Mamba logo in the center. The athlete, who passed away at the age of 41, participated in the Olympic Games twice, in Beijing in 2008 and in London in 2012. In a video posted on Instagram, his 42-year-old wife said, «We are very proud to see this emblem represent the Games in Los Angeles. I know Kobe would be very proud to host the Games in this great city».

Kobe, who won two gold medals with the USA basketball team, alongside LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and others, was extremely proud to represent his country. Vanessa noted, «He considered his two gold medals as some of his proudest professional achievements… As a spectator, he especially loved supporting his fellow athletes and watching competitions at the highest level».

Now, as the «City of Angels» prepares to host the world’s best athletes, Vanessa knows that Kobe would be more than proud. She added, «And of course, our family loves Los Angeles. So when Kobe was asked to support efforts to bring the Games to Los Angeles, he responded with an immediate 'Yes'».

In the video clip shown, the girls' father remarked, «For the Olympics to take place here, in a city that naturally represents a multitude of cultures, would be a wonderful story and a great way to integrate sports with the city»
