This is Pop Culture Jeopardy! As the new spin-off of the popular television quiz show prepares to launch, it has been announced that they have found their host in none other than Colin Jost from Saturday Night Live. The show will begin filming in August, and will ultimately be broadcast on Prime Video from Amazon.
Colin gave a brief response, showing that he is looking forward to joining the latest spin-off of the series. «What is: I’m excited», - he said in a statement to People. Other executives also expressed joy at the fact that the «Weekend Update» host and writer from Saturday Night Live is joining the ranks of game show hosts. President of Game Shows at Sony Pictures Television Suzanne Prete told the publication that they «couldn't be happier» to see him in the host position, describing him as having a «sharp mind and intellect», - saying that he is a perfect fit. «He is smart and quick, like our contestants, and we know he will be able to keep up with them, making this new show his own», - she said.
Like the game it is based on, Pop Culture Jeopardy will be a television quiz show where participants answer in the form of questions. The show’s website says that it is a «format that combines the academic rigor of Jeopardy! with the excitement and unpredictability of pop culture».
Unlike Jeopardy, the pop culture spin-off will have teams competing for the grand prize. «Teams of three participants, who must be experts in categories from Alternative Rock to The Avengers; from Broadway to MMA; from Generation Z to Zendaya, will compete in a tournament format for the grand prize and bragging rights», - the website states.
For those who wish to participate in Pop Culture Jeopardy, unfortunately, it is already too late to apply. The show’s website notes that the «Anytime Test» closed on Friday, July 26. However, there may be other opportunities to apply if the show is successful for everyone. Filming will take place at the Sony Pictures studios in Culver City, California
