Collin Gosselin’s ex-wife, Colleen Conrad, expressed her support for Collin following the release of his memoir, in which he makes several allegations against their mother, Kate Gosselin. In her Instagram post on October 26, Conrad noted that she is concerned about some of Kate’s statements regarding Collin and feels it is important to respond to them based on facts.
Conrad, who has over 35 years of experience in mental health, emphasized that during Collin’s time living with them, she did not observe the symptoms and behaviors that had been previously described. According to her, in consultation with his physician, they gradually discontinued his medication under medical supervision. She added that mental health issues require understanding and compassion but should not be used to diminish someone else’s experience or to evade questions about the past.
In his book «Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood», - 22-year-old Collin recounts his traumatic childhood and claims that Kate sent him to a mental health facility in 2016 due to alleged «unpredictable and aggressive behavior». He spent two years in that facility and another residential program before moving in with John, who is 49 years old.
Kate responded to some comments from TikTok users, denying Collin’s allegations, particularly regarding the infrequent visits to him during his time in the facility. She claims that she visited him every time it was possible and that cancellations of visits occurred due to his unstable condition.
Collin’s representative, Adrian Schwartz, also reacted to Kate’s statements, calling them false and asserting that Collin never used weapons against family members and did not harm animals. Schwartz emphasized that Kate’s accusations are unacceptable and that Collin has shown exceptional courage in sharing his story.
