Collin Gosselin shares video from «Jon & Kate Plus 8» ahead of memoir release

Collin Gosselin shared a childhood video from the reality show «Jon & Kate Plus 8» in light of the release of his memoir. On October 16, he posted a clip on Instagram in which he appears sad in a scene from the show.
In the caption of the video, Collin, who is 22 years old, noted: «If I could go back and talk to that kid I was, I would tell him that we’ve been through more than we ever should have, and one day we will find the strength to turn that pain into purpose». He added that sharing his story meant confronting parts of his past that he had long kept hidden. «It's not easy to be vulnerable, but there’s something powerful about finally giving a voice to what you once felt you had to keep secret», - he wrote.
Collin expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him after the release of his book «In the Shadow of the Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood». He stated: «I don’t think I will ever find the right words to thank everyone who reached out to me, showed love, or entrusted me with a part of their story. The kindness and support I’ve received mean more than you could ever imagine. Thank you for making something so personal a little less heavy to carry».
In his book, Collin recounts growing up with seven siblings—twin sisters Mady and Cara, as well as sextuplets Joel, Aiden, Hannah, Alexis, and Leah. He claims to have experienced physical and emotional abuse from his mother, Kate Gosselin. According to him, the abuse from his mother intensified when he began refusing to film for the show. Kate has not commented on Collin’s allegations and has long denied any accusations of abuse or neglect.
Kate and Jon Gosselin divorced in 2009 after ten years of marriage, with Kate receiving primary custody of the eight children. Collin was placed in the Fairmount Behavioral Health System in Philadelphia at the age of 12 due to alleged behavioral issues. Jon eventually gained custody of Collin and his daughter Hannah, while the other siblings remained with Kate.
