One of Kate Gosselin’s eight children, Collin Gosselin, has spoken out about the strained relationship with his mother and how she «destroyed» the family.
The star of the show «Kate Plus 8» welcomed her eight children — Madelyn Kate, Hannah Joy, Cara Nicole, Aaden Jonathan, Leah Hope, Joel Kevin, Alexis Faith, and Collin — with her ex-husband Jon Gosselin. Since Kate and Jon split in 2009, Collin has revealed that he has not had a good relationship with his mother and six of his siblings since 2018.
Currently, he lives with his 47-year-old father, but his mother sent him to a facility in 2016. He recalls this time as «the worst in my life» due to behavioral issues he faced at home.
In July 2023, Kate spoke out about the situation on Instagram, stating: «My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has been diagnosed with several psychiatric diagnoses over the years. For my safety, his siblings, and his own well-being, he was placed in a facility after years of outpatient treatment, which proved to be insufficient for his needs».
As the whole family had their own reality show, their lives were always under public scrutiny, and according to Collin, this significantly impacted Kate’s reputation. «Our family was under the spotlight 24/7… My mother, especially after the divorce, was perceived as a single mother, caring for eight children. I firmly believe — and know — that I was sent away to protect my mother’s reputation», - he shared with the publication.
Despite the family’s difficulties, Collin remains in touch only with his father and sister Hannah. He hopes to one day restore relationships with his other siblings, emphasizing that he will never do anything to hurt them and that he loves them. He said, «I will never speak ill of them in the media. But I believe my mother stands by what they say in the media. She stands by their opinion of me. I think if we met today, we would be very good friends»
