Actress Constance Zimmer spoke about her battle with breast cancer, sharing her personal story on Instagram. On October 4, she noted that she never thought she would be marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month with her own experience.
Zimmer revealed that on March 13, while away from home, she received a diagnosis of «DCIS», - which is also known as stage zero breast cancer. She described how this news was a shock for her, especially in the company of women sharing their stories. The actress mentioned that she had to inform her husband and daughter about the diagnosis.
She shared that after the diagnosis, she experienced significant psychological pressure and consulted with many doctors. Most of them recommended a quick mastectomy, but Zimmer was looking for alternative options. Ultimately, after consulting with Dr. Kristi Funk, she chose a lumpectomy, which allowed her to preserve her breast.
Zimmer underwent three surgeries in three weeks and completed radiation treatment while continuing her work on the press tour for the series «Love Story». She also noted her Emmy nomination during this time. In her post, the actress expressed gratitude for being cancer-free now and shared photos from the hospital and events, emphasizing that this experience was filled with both fear and joy.
