Constance Zimmer spoke about her battle with breast cancer

During a press tour to promote the film «Love Story», - Constance Zimmer revealed her diagnosis of stage zero breast cancer, which she had not previously disclosed. The actress shared her experience with the publication «Extra», - noting that she decided to speak about her illness to raise awareness and inspire women to get screened.
Zimmer explained that she learned about her diagnosis in December, following the sudden death of her mother from a heart attack, when she underwent a full examination. She clarified that stage zero breast cancer is a form of cancer that has not yet spread and has not reached other organs. Dr. Lisa Newman, the chief surgeon for breast cancer treatment at Weill Cornell Presbyterian Hospital Network, added that early detection of breast cancer leads to a 98% survival rate.
Although Constance has been free of signs of the disease for seven months, she chose not to share this information during press tours and celebrations of her Emmy nomination for «Love Story». She stated, «I didn’t want my health to be the main topic». Now that she has decided to tell her story, Zimmer hopes to inspire others: «One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. If you catch it early, you’ve done your job».
Constance is also planning to participate in the Shoes for a Cure event at the end of the month in New York, where a sale of 10,000 pairs of shoes will take place, with proceeds going to fund breast cancer research.
