US Open champion Kori Pavin has shared the difficult situation regarding his wife Lisa’s battle with cancer. On October 6, he posted on Instagram that, despite completing her chemotherapy treatment more than seven months ago, Lisa’s cancer has not completely disappeared.
After several visits to the Mayo Clinic, Lisa underwent CAR-T therapy, which is a personalized gene therapy where modified immune cells are reintroduced into the body through a vein to fight cancer cells. Kori expressed hope that this procedure would help Lisa in her fight against the disease and noted that the emotional and physical toll associated with cancer treatment is immense. He also praised Lisa for her courage and resilience.
Kori thanked the doctors and nurses at the Mayo Clinic for their care and support, as well as all of Lisa’s friends who provided her with moral support. The couple, married since 2003, has an 18-year-old daughter, Alexis. In February, Kori shared optimistic news about the completion of Lisa’s sixth and final round of chemotherapy, highlighting her strength and positive attitude.
Recently, despite the challenges, Lisa and Kori sent their daughter off to the University of California, Santa Barbara, which Kori also shared on Instagram.
