Cornell Young IV, star of the Netflix reboot of «A Different World», - shared his thoughts on participating in the project. He plays the role of Shaquille «Five Stars» Johnson, a charismatic quarterback and the son of the popular character from the original series, Ron Johnson.
Cornell noted the positive response to the new series, saying, «Honestly, it’s just a true blessing. We came together to create something beautiful that was so iconic — to get such an amazing reaction from viewers and people, it’s indescribable».
He also talked about the audition process when he received a call from Debbie Allen: «I'm going through the audition process, and, you know, I get a call for [the music] audition. Debbie Allen calls me: 'Hi, is this Cornell? This is Debbie Allen.' I’m like, 'This is crazy.' Everything was so beautiful… We felt like it was something special».
Cornell kept his life-changing role a secret until the last moment. He admitted, «I didn’t tell my family until I was going to shoot the pilot… Sometimes you just need to be alone with yourself. It was just me and God». His twin brother, David, who is his biggest fan, couldn’t be prouder of him.
