Corrie Walsh, allegedly «interested» in the Lindsay Clancy case, sent a message to her family about a planned trip to Disneyland for her son Barrett just hours before she killed him. This is evidenced by new legal documents.
At a hearing on September 8, defense attorney Robert Kerr attempted to explain that the 40-year-old Walsh was a loving mother before confessing to the murder of two-year-old Barrett on September 1. Kerr noted that Barrett had speech delays, and his first words were «Bluey» and «Mickey Mouse». Due to his love for Disney, Walsh reportedly could not wait to see his reaction to meeting Bluey and Mickey at Disneyland.
Prosecutors argued that Walsh became «very interested» in the high-profile Clancy trial before «consciously and intentionally» killing her son. However, defense attorneys stated that she enthusiastically informed her family about the trip just hours before the murder. Kerr added that Walsh and her mother began planning the vacation as early as January, booking flights, hotel rooms, and obtaining park passes.
Neighbors and friends of Walsh claim that the murders are out of character for her. She is described as «a very active, high-functioning mother, kind and caring». Walsh was trusted among her acquaintances, some of whom allowed her to care for their children.
Walsh is supported by her family and close friends, who attended the preliminary hearing on September 24. At a recent court session, she pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder. Walsh remains in jail; however, Kerr and her attorney Andrea Lyon continue to seek her release and transfer to a hospital for psychiatric treatment, although the judge previously denied this request.
After the September 24 hearing, Lyon told reporters that records of Walsh’s incarceration had been requested to determine if she is receiving the necessary treatment. She added that «the whole family» continues to support Walsh, asserting that she has never been aggressive and needs help.
Barrett was found dead on September 1, and Walsh attempted suicide shortly after. Witnesses told police that Walsh became «very interested» in the Clancy case, which involved the accusation of Clancy murdering her three children in January 2023. While the murder was occurring, the jury in the Clancy case was deliberating whether she should be found criminally responsible for the deaths of her children amid postpartum psychosis. On September 4, the trial was declared a mistrial due to a failure to reach a unanimous verdict.
