Chris Rock talks about therapy to combat insecurity
Chris Rock spoke about his mental health and years of working with a therapist. In an interview published on October 3 in The New York Times, he revealed that he has been actively engaged in therapy for the past few years to cope with feelings of insecurity.

Rock noted that the main theme of his therapy is recognizing his own worth. He added that he sometimes encounters people whom he believes work harder than he does, which triggers his feelings of insecurity. In particular, he mentioned Adam Sandler and Rick Rubin as examples of such individuals. Rock also shared that he considers himself a good father to his daughters Lola and Zahra, whom he raises with his ex-wife Malaak Compton-Rock.

The actor also discussed his feelings while working on the upcoming film «Misty Green», - which he wrote, directed, and starred in. He noted that his co-star, Rosalind Eleazar, fully immersed herself in the character she portrayed.

Rock admitted that it took him 12 years to feel comfortable behind the camera again after the film «Top Five» in 2014. He explained that his hiatus from directing was due to changes in his life, including his divorce in 2016, which he described as an opportunity to start anew. Rock also mentioned that during that period, he faced issues he does not wish to discuss.
