Chris Watts wrote a letter to his wife and daughters after the murders

Chris Watts' parents reported that their son asked them to read a letter he wrote to his wife Shanann and their two daughters, Bella and Celeste, at their graves less than two years after he killed them. The letter is dated January 10, 2020, and in it, Chris, who is 41 years old, wishes Shanann a happy birthday.

In the letter, he writes: «Hi, my dear! Happy birthday! You are 36 years old today. This is the first time of the year when I could always say that you are two years older than me. You didn’t like that, but I enjoyed teasing you». He adds that «the husband you married is not the person who turned his back on his family», - and that the one who killed his family «was a deviation caused by evil from outside». Chris also says that «all the love you felt here doesn’t compare to the love you feel there — with God’s love».

Shanann and the girls went missing in August 2018 and were found dead three days later. At the time, Shanann was pregnant with their third child. Chris was arrested shortly after, and it became known that he was having an affair with a colleague at the time of the crime. He pleaded guilty on November 6, 2018, and was sentenced to five consecutive life terms.

Eight years after murdering his family, Chris began a new relationship with a woman named Lizzie Henderson, whom he met in prison. Reports indicate that their relationship is serious, and Lizzie moved from Ohio to Wisconsin to be closer to him.
