Christian Horner, apparently, was fired from the Red Bull Racing team during the 2025 racing season. More than a year after his work scandal became known, Laurent Mekies replaced Christian’s former team.
«We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the past 20 years», - said Oliver Mintzlaff, General Director of Corporate Projects and Investments, in a statement. «With his tireless diligence, experience, expertise, and innovative thinking, he played a key role in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1. Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team’s history».
Below, find out what we know about Christian’s departure from Red Bull, his career, and more.
Christian is a former General Director and manager of the Red Bull Racing team in Formula 1. He held this position for 20 years, starting in 2005. Before becoming a team manager, he was a driver.
Throughout the 1990s, Christian participated in numerous races, starting with Formula Three and Two and so on. When he was brought into the Red Bull management team, Christian was the youngest in the team. Under his leadership, the team achieved success.
It appears that the Red Bull team fired Christian. On July 9, 2025, the team announced that they had «released» Christian, and he did not make a public statement himself.
«Red Bull has released Christian Horner from his operational duties as of today (Wednesday, July 9, 2025) and appointed Laurent Mekies as General Director of Red Bull Racing», - a Red Bull representative said. «Oliver Mintzlaff, General Director of Corporate Projects and Investments, thanked Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the past 20 years».
Although Red Bull did not mention the scandal related to Christian’s departure, the team’s previous investigation into his actions raised eyebrows. In February 2024, Christian was charged with inappropriate behavior towards a colleague. The identity of the employee was not disclosed.
At that time, allegedly WhatsApp messages were leaked to members of the Formula 1 community via Google Drive, according to CNN. The authenticity of the messages was never confirmed, and the Red Bull team did not comment further on the issue.
Christian was subsequently cleared by Red Bull of any wrongdoing.
Christian is married to his wife, Geri Halliwell — also known as Ginger Spice — since 2015. The couple is raising a son together, and Christian is also the father of a daughter, whom he shares with his ex-wife Beverly Allen.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Christian’s net worth is around $ 50 million, so if his departure from Red Bull means his retirement, he should still have a decent standard of living
