Christine Chenoweth admitted that she is a survivor of domestic violence in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, May 18. The 55-year-old star of «Pushing Daisies» confessed that she turned to prayer when going through it, responding to a fan. She revealed that experiencing violence deeply affected her, and she continued to pray for the person involved.

Christine did not share many details about what happened to her or who her abuser was, but she said that she prayed after seeing a horrific video from 2016 where Sean «Diddy» Combs attacked his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. «Honestly, I have my reasons why the video of Sean Combs bothers me so much. The main thing I need to do is pray for him. Truly», - she wrote.

After she posted the first tweet, a fan responded and shared their experience of domestic violence, which led Christine to share her own experience. «I never wanted to bring this out, but here we go. A few years ago, I was severely beaten. It took therapy and prayer for me to understand that I deserve better. I was deeply wounded physically and spiritually», - she wrote.

She continued and said that after everything, the only thing she could do was pray. «The only thing I knew to do when I got out was to pray. Pray for myself. Pray for him, as he grew up in abuse. That’s it», - she wrote. In a subsequent post, she wrote that it was «the lowest point in my life» and also shared how she feels towards this person. «I must admit, I have not forgiven yet. It’s beyond my understanding. God is helping me through this part», - she wrote.

In another subsequent post, Christine responded to another fan, sharing that every victim of domestic violence has their own way of reacting to it. «The victim should handle it as they see fit and what’s best for them», - she wrote. «Maybe it helped someone».
