Christopher Nolan is preparing to adapt the Greek poem by Homer, «The Odyssey», - into a film for IMAX, which will be released in theaters. Nolan’s film is set to be released on July 17, 2026. It will be the most expensive project of the director’s career, as it was filmed using IMAX 70 mm cameras.
The director of «Oppenheimer» hinted that his upcoming cinematic work «really contains all the stories» in an interview with Empire magazine in November 2025.
«As a filmmaker, you look for gaps in cinematic culture, things that haven’t been done yet», - Nolan explained. «What I saw is that all these great mythological cinematic works that I grew up with—Ray Harryhausen’s films and others—I have never seen done with the weight and authenticity that a big-budget IMAX Hollywood production can provide».
