In June, Google Cloud and Workspace «encountered an increase in 503 errors in external API requests, affecting customers», - according to the status site.
«From our initial analysis, the issue arose due to an invalid automatic quota update into our API management system, which was distributed globally, resulting in deviation in external API requests», - the status site indicated at the time. «To recover, we bypassed the offending quota check, allowing recovery in most regions within 2 hours. However, the quota policy database in us-central1 was overloaded, resulting in a much longer recovery in that region. Several products had moderate residual impact (e.g. delays) up to an hour after the main issue was resolved, and a small number recovered after that».
