The film follows Laura’s character, Catherine, «a reclusive writer who arrives at a writer’s retreat in Morocco hoping that the remote setting will unlock her creative block», - according to Netflix. «There she meets a young man — what starts as an acquaintance turns into an intoxicating, life-affirming romantic affair».
The actress from «Marriage Story» described her character in more detail, noting that Catherine «has dedicated her life to storytelling and therefore [hasn't] spent much time looking at the deep truth inside herself».
«She is at a turning point in her life, seeking solace and deeper understanding, and finds it in a love story», - Laura added, before explaining what drew her to the film. «I was drawn to the exploration of personality and self-worth in relationships, especially in a world as intellectually rich as the literary scene. The dynamics between a young man and an older, respected writer intrigued me because it’s not just about romance — it’s about finding someone who truly sees and understands you, which is deeply human and relatable».
Elsewhere in their interview, Liam and Laura delved into their working relationship on set. The star of «The Hunger Games» franchise noted that it was an «absolute privilege» to share the screen with the Oscar winner, calling her a «remarkable talent».
As for Laura’s opinion of Liam, she described him as «pure magic» and said, «He became not only a friend and a trusted face in our Moroccan adventure, but our shared commitment to honesty and intimacy in all relationships was very moving for me. We were very in sync, so the opportunity to tell this story together meant a lot to me… and he’s just funny, so I was laughing all the time».
