Laverne Cox leads her new TV series «Clean Slate», - and the eight-episode first season has already aired for viewers! The star of the popular dramatic comedy prison series «Orange Is the New Black» is leading «Clean Slate» alongside a talented cast. In fact, Laverne has achieved much more than just a role; she also co-created the show with her co-star George Wallace, and served as an executive producer. So where can fans watch the new series?

Before the premiere of «Clean Slate», - George told The Hollywood Reporter about how he and Laverne came up with the idea for the series. Initially, he wanted to reimagine «Sanford and Son».
«So I said, 'Let me go to Norman Lear,'» George recalled, saying, «I've known him for 30 years and said, 'I want to reboot 'Sanford and Son.' He says, 'Are you kidding? You can’t do that show. Come up with something new and come back.' … At the time 'Orange Is the New Black' was very popular. I never watched the show, but I kept hearing about Laverne Cox. Who is Laverne Cox? But thinking about her show, I thought, what if I had a son who left home and came back after 23 years, and my child says, 'Dad, I’m coming home tomorrow.'»
Laverne interjected during the interview to say, «And this child says, 'I was never your son, I was always your daughter.'»
«In the South, there are so many Black Christian women like her», - admitted Laverne, who is from Alabama, like her character. «In fact, there is an organization of Christian mothers with LGBTQ children, and they started just to embrace LGBTQ+ people. That’s what, there are so many people who are Christians and loving. I grew up reading the Bible, briefly studying lessons in Sunday school every Sunday, and a lot happens in the Bible, but in the New Testament God is love, Jesus is love, he forgives, he died for our sins. Judging is God’s job, loving is our job».
