South African composer Lebo M. continues to carry on the legacy of «The Lion King», - preparing for the «Hans Zimmer Live — The Next Level» tour across Asia and Australia. He will perform as a special guest at concerts starting on September 16 in Yokohama, Japan, and will cover cities such as Taipei, Singapore, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
Lebo M., whose career began under apartheid, noted that music has always been more than just entertainment for him; it has been a way to preserve memory and identity. His collaboration with composer Hans Zimmer began with the film «One Voice» in 1992 and continued with «The Lion King», - where his vocals and compositions became central to the emotional impact of the Disney classic.
Recently, Lebo M. voluntarily dropped his lawsuit against comedian Lerumo Jonasi regarding the use of the choir from «Circle of Life». He emphasized that the lawsuit was never solely about a legal outcome, but also concerned issues of cultural significance and context. Lebo noted that it is important for society to receive accurate information, which will help people better understand cultural traditions.
