Half of the internet was convinced that Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars were collaborating on a secret song together. Over the past few months, there have been rumors that Gaga, 38, and Bruno, 38, would release a song called «Die with a Smile». And it seems that social media users were absolutely right — the musicians announced that their single would be released on Friday, August 15th, at midnight Eastern Time, along with a music video!
«WHILE YOU WAIT FOR LG7… 'DIE WITH A SMILE' duet with @brunomars Song and video tonight at 9pm Pacific Time», - Gaga captioned a post on Instagram on Thursday, August 15th. In it, she included the cover of the single, on which she and Bruno are dressed in matching light blue outfits with red accessories.
On Tuesday, August 13th, fans noticed that Gaga reacted to Bruno’s recent Instagram post. The «When I Was Your Man» hitmaker shared a video montage of himself in Mexico, and the «A Star is Born» actress commented with a few black hearts and laughing emojis. Although the comment was short and sweet, fans wasted no time flooding Gaga with replies.
«IS THIS REAL?» wrote one, apparently referring to the rumors of collaboration. «Mama Monster is not playing», - added another, referring to the pop singer’s nickname.
That day, Gaga posted a video on Instagram of her playing the piano. In the clip, she was wearing a t-shirt with Bruno’s image, which many interpreted as a deliberate hint.
«I SEE YOU, BRUNO, Wow, can’t wait», - commented one fan on Gaga’s post. «She made sure we saw the shirt», - speculated another fan. Even the MTV Instagram account joined in, pointing out: «WHAT A HINT», - in a comment.
In June, Bruno discussed the possibility of performing with the «Love Game» singer during an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal. At the time, their residency shows almost overlapped, but they missed each other by four days.
«I would love to [make a song] with her», - Bruno told the publication, adding, «I at least have to sing with her at her [Las Vegas residency]».
This is not the first time Gaga has been suspected of collaborating with a well-known artist. Earlier this year, fans speculated whether the American Horror Story actress and Beyoncé would continue their video for the 2009 song «Telephone». After the 42-year-old singer released her 2024 album «Cowboy Carter», - fans pointed out that her single «Texas Hold 'Em» sounded familiar with Gaga’s line «I wanna hold 'em like they do in Texas, please» from the song «Poker Face».
