Lena Dunham used her personal experience for the upcoming Netflix series «Too Much», - but in a new interview for The New Yorker, published on Tuesday, July 9, she explained her reasons for not participating in it. Reflecting on her time creating the critically acclaimed series «Girls», - 38-year-old Lena said that one of the reasons was that she did not want her «body to be analyzed», - as it was when she starred in the HBO series. «I knew from the beginning that I wouldn’t be the star of this series», - she said.

Lena explained that one of the main reasons she did not become the star of the series was that she was thrilled at the opportunity to work with «Hacks» actress Megan Stalter, whom she complimented a lot. «I saw Megan Stalter’s work and was very inspired by her. She’s incredible; I think people will be amazed. We know how funny she is», - Lena said. «Megan has an openness that, I think, plays a big role. She has what you could call the opposite of a 'bitch face.' She has an 'angel face.'»

The actress continued and then recalled her time on the previous hit sitcom. «I also think I wasn’t ready to go through another experience like I did around 'Girls' at this stage in my life. Physically, I just wasn’t ready to subject my body to analysis again», - she said. «I forgot that victory is actually just protecting yourself and doing what you need to keep creating».

«Too Much» tells the story of an American woman who moves to London after a breakup. The series follows the relationship she establishes with a new man, played by Will Sharpe. The series consists of ten episodes and will be released on Netflix.

Lena co-created the series with her husband Luis Felber and expressed joy at the opportunity to work with Netflix on the project. «Netflix deeply supports our vision, which is to create a romantic comedy that makes us root for love, brings joy, but also has the sharp edges of life», - she told the streaming service news portal Tudum
