In a letter to staff, the Emmy award-winning news anchor called his work on the show «the honor of a lifetime».
«After 10 years, 17 if you count my weekend years, it’s time for me to step away from the anchor chair at Nightly News», - Holt wrote in the letter, according to NBC. «It has truly been the honor of a lifetime to work with each of you every day, holding journalism as our true north and our viewers at the center of everything we do».
At this time, Holt is not leaving the NBC network or retiring, but is transitioning to a full-time role on the program Dateline, where he has been the lead anchor for almost 15 years.
In his farewell message, he added: «I smile when I think that with Nightly News and Dateline, I now anchor two of the most successful and iconic television news programs in broadcast history. As a 20-year-old radio reporter on the police beat chasing breaking news in San Francisco, I could never have imagined my career unfolding as it has. What an amazing journey».
NBC News Executive Vice President of Programming Janelle Rodriguez thanked Holt for making Nightly News «a trusted and premier news destination for millions of viewers across America». She also emphasized that he will «continue to work at NBC News for many years to come».
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Holt’s net worth is estimated at $ 35 million. The site also reports that his earnings are $ 10 million
