Lainey Wilson surprised her fans last year when she revealed that she has been secretly dating former NFL player Devlin «Duck» Hodges since 2021! The country music star made her debut on the red carpet with Duck in May 2023, and later revealed that they have been together for quite some time in the June 2023 episode of the Bobby Bones show. «He's been around for quite a while. I just decided to make him wait two and a half years», - Lainey joked.
«But I’ll tell you, he’s a golden guy», - she admired. «He supports me, never gets in the way of what I’m trying to do. He says, 'Go and achieve, girl.' And I made him wait. I mean… it’s been a little over two years already».

Devlin was born in Alabama on April 12, 1996. He became a sports star in high school before showcasing his talents at his alma mater, Samford University, where he excelled as a quarterback and was thrice named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Year. In 2019, he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He then had stints with the Los Angeles Rams, and a brief period in the Canadian Football League with the Ottawa Redblacks. On April 22, 2022, the Redblacks announced that Devlin had ended his professional football career.
His experience in professional football has helped Devlin support Lainey, as she said he understands what it’s like to strive for your passions.
«He knows what it’s like to chase a dream, because he’s done it himself», - she said on the Bobby Bones show. «He was in the NFL. He tried his hand literally with the Steelers and succeeded, and had a great run with them. Then he went to the Los Angeles Rams and did it».
When Lainey revealed their two-year relationship with Duck, she was asked about his unique nickname and how he got it.
«First of all, if you read something on the internet, it’s probably not true», - she explained on the Bobby Bones show. «His college football coach said, 'You're one of the best quarterbacks I’ve ever worked with. And you remind me of one of my favorite quarterbacks I worked with many years ago, and we called him Duck.' And so he and the team started calling him Duck. Turns out, Devlin was also a duck hunter».
