Lil Jon lifted the mood at the Democratic National Convention with his performance, which got the whole room on their feet. The 53-year-old artist brought his characteristic energy in support of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, performing some of his most popular hits, including «Turn Down For What» and «Get Low».

He started his live performance with his famous phrase «Yeahhh!» and warmed up the room, saying, «Ladies and gentlemen, we are here tonight to officially nominate Kamala Harris for president». The audience enthusiastically joined in his chant: «We ain’t going back… Vice President Harris!»

Jonathan H. Smith, better known as Lil Jon, had previously appeared on the show «Celebrity Apprentice», hosted by former President Donald Trump. During his time on the show, Trump made a controversial comment, referring to Lil Jon as «Uncle Tom». In a tweet posted on the X platform (formerly Twitter) in 2016, Lil Jon addressed this incident, stating: «When this happened on *Celebrity Apprentice* in the boardroom, a few of my castmates and I immediately addressed Mr. Trump about this».

He added: «I can’t say if he fully understood the meaning of his words, but after we explained their offensiveness, he stopped using that term. I also want to be clear that I do not agree with many of Mr. Trump’s statements during his current presidential campaign».

Despite this past, Lil Jon shared in an interview after his performance with Don Lemon on CNN: «People are tired of bad energy, tired of negativity, tired of the fight. People want hope, positivity, and the ability to rely on their neighbors again. That’s what Kamala brings — good energy… We need a little more hope and positivity».

According to recent reports, John Legend will take the stage at the DNC on Wednesday, August 21, and Pink will perform on the last day in support of Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz, as they face off against Republican candidates Donald and his campaign partner J.D. Vance in the upcoming presidential elections in November
