The widow of late NFL player Jordan Devey shared how she informed their son Cash about his father’s death. Jordan died by suicide in July at the age of 38.
Lindsey Devey expressed her feelings on Instagram, noting that on that day, Cash’s world collapsed. «He ran outside and screamed in a way that an 11-year-old should not scream», - she wrote. Later, Cash returned inside with a request: «He wiped his tears, came to me, and with a strength that I know he got from Christ, said, ‘Mom, we can get through this together. Don’t take your life.' Those words will stay with me forever».
Lindsey noted that Cash has always felt the need to protect the family and is deeply affected, but rarely shows his emotions as he believes it is his duty to be strong like his father. She added that the «hardest» moment after Jordan’s death was seeing her son hold his hand for the last time. «In that moment, he lost not only a father but also a best friend, a mentor, and a coach», - she explained.
Lindsey and Jordan also have three daughters: MJ (8 years old), Winnie (4 years old), and Stevie (2 years old). Lindsey announced her husband’s death in an emotional social media post on July 23, the day of their 15th anniversary. She wrote that their home is filled with memories and love, and expressed her grief over the loss.
According to information posted on the GoFundMe platform in honor of Jordan, he «died by suicide». The fund has raised over $ 178,000. Jordan played as a guard for six NFL teams from 2013 to 2020.
