Lauren Boebert responds to allegations in sexual scandal

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert made a sharp statement to members of the press who reported on alleged sexual relationships with three of her current and former staffers. In a video posted on September 20 on the platform X, she claimed that journalists had launched a «smear campaign» and described their actions as fraudulent.
According to Boebert, no members of Congress have confirmed in writing that the allegations against her were made in good faith and warrant consideration. She also noted that the House Ethics Committee rules do not allow complaints to be filed within 60 days of an election. On the same day, her press secretary told Us that the allegations are «absolutely false» and represent a political stunt.
In the video, Boebert addressed David Wheeler from American Muckrakers, who reportedly filed a sworn statement regarding her alleged misconduct. She emphasized that Wheeler had previously been caught spreading false information and that his actions harm not only her but also her team.
Boebert also expressed hope that journalists would consider the consequences of their publications for her staff and their families. At the end of the video, she thanked her supporters and noted that she does not plan to hire new staff. An ethics violation could lead to serious consequences for Boebert, as the House Code of Official Conduct strictly prohibits intimate or sexual relationships with staffers. Boebert has represented Colorado’s 4th congressional district since January 2025.
