Actor Luis Montcada shared memories of his friend and co-star from the series «Breaking Bad», - R.J. Mitte, who, according to his representative, took his own life on Monday at the age of 34. Montcada recounted that they spent time together in New Mexico just a few days before the tragedy.
According to Montcada, they attended a golf tournament together and took a hot air balloon ride. In a video posted by Luis on Instagram, he tells Mitte, «Put your head on my shoulder. Everything will be okay». The actor noted that his friend seemed different this time: «I could tell he was not himself. We tried to cheer him up, joke around like we always do, but he really looked tired and sad».
Montcada added that he was aware of Mitte’s internal struggles but chose not to disclose details, calling it too personal. He recalled that after the flight, they had lunch, and the next day, Luis drove R.J. to the airport. «We talked for another 45 minutes… I offered him to stay at my place so he could rest and think without outside pressure», - he shared.
Emotionally reflecting on Mitte, Montcada noted that he had supported him during difficult times. In his Instagram post, he expressed deep sorrow: «I am absolutely shattered. I just spent time with R.J. a few days ago. It was incredibly hard to watch him go, knowing he was struggling with heavy feelings». Luis urged everyone to show care and kindness to one another.
R.J. Mitte played Walter White Jr. in «Breaking Bad», - while Luis Montcada portrayed Marco Salamanca.
