Luke Bryan will take the stage as co-host of the Country Music Association Awards ceremony alongside Peyton Manning and Lainey Wilson. Of course, his wonderful wife, Caroline Bryan (maiden name Boyer), will be in the audience to support her husband. In addition to his hosting duties, Luke will also perform a medley of hits. Country music fans know that Caroline has been attending these award ceremonies for many years, supporting Luke at various events throughout his musical career.
This year will mark the fourth consecutive year that Luke will host the CMA Awards ceremony. He hosted solo in 2021, before joining Peyton in 2022 and again in 2023. They did so well last year that they brought back this dynamic duo to co-host the CMA Awards 2024.
In addition to walking the red carpet, Caroline and Luke love to show their love on social media. When the glamour fades, they are just silly college sweethearts who still madly love each other! Plus, they have created a beautiful family together. Learn more about Caroline and her relationship with Luke here!
Luke and Caroline met when they were both students at South Georgia University in the late 90s. Before attending South Georgia, Luke earned a two-year degree at a nearby college after the death of his brother Chris Bryan in 1996. Upon transferring to the university, he met Caroline when she was a freshman and he was a senior. At the time, Luke was playing music in the university band, and he met Caroline when they were at the same local bar.
«We were just there, doing our thing, just enjoying college, and I see a group of girls walk in, and of course Caroline was among them», - Luke said in his 2021 documentary «My Dirty Road Diary». «I just thought, 'Who is that? I need to figure out a way to strike up a conversation and do something cheesy or something like that.'» Luke described meeting Caroline as «love at first sight», - although she was initially not ready for a relationship.
«I didn’t want to deal with a guy, but it gradually turned into something more», - Caroline admitted. At the time, Luke was playing in the university band. «I wasn’t impressed that he was a singer, I just liked him as a person», - she explained. «He was quirky, funny, goofy, but smart. He was such a bright personality that I had never met in my life». Unfortunately, Luke’s growing career and age difference began to take a toll. «He spent a lot of time on the road, and, honestly, Luke was the second guy I ever kissed in my life», - Caroline said. «So I knew I wasn’t ready to love him the way he deserved. I needed to grow up».
They finally broke up after a year and a half of on-and-off dating. «I just think our age difference put us on different paths», - Luke admitted, confessing that he was «heartbroken for many years» after the breakup. Luke returned home to be with his family, who were still grieving Chris, for some time after that. Eventually, his father urged him to go to Nashville and pursue his dreams for real.
Pursuing his career in Nashville, Luke continued to return to South Georgia to perform concerts. These four or five concerts a year were his only chance to see Caroline, who still came to watch his performances. «If Luke was playing in town, I would come, which was completely wrong because we had broken up», - she said. «But I still went to his concerts, waved to him, talked to him, and hugged him. I think he liked it. I think he liked that I actually came».
For five and a half years, Luke and Caroline maintained «sporadic» contact through text messages and emails, but the timing was never right for their reunion. Finally, when they were both free, after he had already signed his record deal and started making a name for himself, they both found themselves lonely. She invited him to her holiday
