It was a night of boot stomping for Luke Bryan in Vancouver. The 47-year-old country music star slipped and fell on stage on a fan’s phone, assuming that the phone was the cause of his slip. However, he took the moment with humor, laughing at himself. According to several viral videos on social media, Luke performed on Saturday, April 20, at the Coast City Country festival. After the fall, he continued singing, despite falling on his back, causing an instant gasp from the audience.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Luke turned to the crowd: «Wait! Did anyone catch that?» before jokingly threatening the fan whose phone ended up on stage: «It's okay. My lawyer will call you».
The publication also reported that the American Idol judge took another fan’s phone to see how they captured the funny incident.
«Oh, you’re filming on Snapchat, you can’t film this crap», - Luke said, showing the recording to the crowd. The big screen on stage also showed the fall. «Here I am, here we are, jumping, jumping, warming up the crowd… there it is! Hey, I need something viral. This is viral, okay? Hashtag 'Love you, miss you, mean it'».
Despite being busy as a judge on American Idol, Luke’s tour titled Mind of a Country Boy is set to conclude in Canada on Thursday, April 25. He is expected to resume the tour in Florida in June.
Last week, Luke was seen trying to help his American Idol colleague Katy Perry fix her broken metal top after the back of it broke. As seen in an Instagram video that Katy, 39, posted on April 15, the «Love you, miss you, mean it» performer approached her with pliers to fix the issue.
During a subsequent interview with Entertainment Tonight after the wardrobe malfunction, Lionel Richie playfully accused Luke of breaking Katy’s unique top.
«Luke knocked the top off, I’ll tell you the truth», - joked Lionel, 74. «And then Luke spent the rest of the time saying, 'I'm sorry, I’m sorry.' But he was definitely apologetic, and then he tried to put it all back together, and it looked worse than everything else».
The «Country Girl» singer defended himself, noting that he did everything he could to help the «Teenage Dream» hitmaker with the fashion mishap.
