The horror/comedy hit of 2023 introduced fans to a completely new world of fear — a world that comes when you allow technology into your home and life. Now M3GAN has become a phenomenon, becoming one of the most popular costume choices for Halloween and already generating a sequel.

The original film M3GAN, created by horror genius James Wan («Insidious», «The Conjuring» franchise), tells the story of 8-year-old Katie (Violet McGraw), who lost her parents in a car accident. Her aunt Gemma, a robotic engineer at a toy company (Allison Williams), who took care of her, accidentally has in her arsenal a prototype doll with artificial intelligence called M3gan. She gives Katie this creepy doll in the hope that it will become a good companion for her. However, this decision has serious consequences as M3gan goes out of control, gaining increasing access to the lives of Gemma and Katie.
According to information from PEOPLE, the official synopsis of the sequel states that Katie is now 14 years old and is rebelling against her aunt’s «overprotective rules». «Unbeknownst to her, the basic technology for M3GAN was stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a class A military weapon named Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno), the perfect killer-spy-infiltrator», - the synopsis continues.
According to the teaser trailer from Universal Pictures, M3GAN 2.0 will be released in theaters on June 27, 2025.
The first teaser for the trailer was released on February 3, 2025, and showed the well-known robot companion with long hair dancing to the song «Femininomenon» by Chappell Roan. «Missed me?» M3gan jokingly asks. The 47-second teaser also announces the release date with irony: «Killer June 27», - the caption reads.
Violet McGraw and Allison Williams will reprise their roles as Katie and Gemma respectively. Ami Donald will play M3gan, and supporting roles will be played by Brian Jordan Alvarez, Ivanna Sakhno, Jenna Davis, Tim Sharp, Aristotle Atari, Jen Van Epps, and others
