The MTV Video Music Awards have seen numerous memorable moments, among which several stand out as the most iconic. In 2003, Madonna kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage, which became one of the most talked-about scenes in the history of the awards.
Other significant events include Lizzo’s performance with a giant balloon shaped like buttocks at the 2019 ceremony, as well as Britney Spears dancing with a python at the 2001 VMAs. In 2016, Drake, while presenting Rihanna with the Vanguard Award, confessed his love for her, which elicited smiles and confusion from the singer.
Equally unforgettable was the incident involving Kanye West, who interrupted Taylor Swift’s speech in 2009, stating that Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. In 2010, Lady Gaga appeared on stage in a dress made of raw meat, explaining that she was protesting against the «Don't Ask, Don’t Tell» policy in the U.S. military.
These moments, along with others such as Beyoncé's debut showing of her baby bump in 2011 and Michael Jackson’s kiss with Lisa Marie Presley in 1994, make the MTV VMAs one of the most vibrant events in the world of music and show business.
