Mama June Shannon admitted that she has started treatment using semaglutide for weight loss in a new Instagram video on Tuesday, April 16. The reality show star, 44, shared that she has begun the process of taking semaglutide and thanked her doctor for starting this journey. «Come with me on this journey, I know many of you are on similar paths, let’s do this together», - she wrote in her caption, urging others to share their stories.
Mama June revealed that she underwent gastric sleeve surgery in 2015 and talked about how her weight has changed over the years. «I used to weigh 550 pounds. So by myself I lost weight from 550 pounds to 141 on the day of surgery. And in six weeks I lost weight from 141 to 88», - she said, as reported by E! News.
She also explained that she gained some weight while helping take care of her daughter Anna «Chickadee» Cardwell during her battle with cancer, from which she passed away in December 2023. «With all the stress, eating out, improper diet, just everything, I gained about 120, 130 pounds», - she said.
June explained that she tried different methods to change her weight, but had not had much success. She then turned to her doctor for a prescription for semaglutide, which is a medication often sold under the names Ozempic, Wegovy, and others. She thanked her doctor and said she found him incredibly helpful in making the decision to take the weight loss medication.
June promised to keep fans updated on all her feelings and results while taking the weight loss medication. «Every week I will come out here and share my good, bad, indifferent, all feelings, and we go through this journey together», - she said.
