Mariska Hargitay may only play a police officer on television, but she still managed to help a young girl find her mother during the filming of the series «Law & Order: Special Victims Unit». According to a new report, the girl approached the 60-year-old actress while she was filming the final episode of the 25th season after losing her mother. An eyewitness said that she thought Mariska was a police officer because of the badge she wore as part of her costume.

The witness recalled that filming for «Special Victims Unit» was taking place in Fort Tryon Park, where the girl had lost her mother, according to People. They said the girl approached Mariska, thinking she was on duty. The girl did not notice the film crew or Ice T, who Mariska was filming with. «The actress agreed, stopping filming for 20 minutes to help the child find her mother and comfort them both», - the publication notes.

«Special Victims Unit» celebrated its 25th anniversary when the new season aired earlier this year. Speaking about the future of the show and her character Olivia Benson, Mariska admitted that she is excited about the «new places» it will go in an exclusive interview with Hollywood Life in January. «We continue to go to new places. We constantly ask ourselves: 'What haven’t we done yet?' And that’s what’s so exciting, that we find these new places and go into uncomfortable areas, but I think the most important place is inside. And that’s where Olivia is going. I think she’s ready to open up a little bit», - she said.

When the 25th season of «Special Victims Unit» aired, Mariska was able to reunite with her longtime filming partner Christopher Meloni, and they posed together for a sweet moment on the red carpet premiere of the show. Leading up to the season premiere, Mariska opened up about her many memories from the past 25 seasons of filming the show, recalling the highs and lows in an interview
