Markiplier has officially transitioned from being a megastar on YouTube to a feature film director with «Iron Lung», - his intense adaptation of the viral indie horror game. This self-funded project marks his debut as a filmmaker—he took on nearly all key roles behind the scenes.
In a statement published in Variety, Markiplier joked about the challenges he faced, saying, «They said it shouldn’t be done… that it would be ‘extremely unwise' to try to write, direct, act in, and edit a film all by myself. I proved them wrong. My bathroom may become a render farm, but I can’t wait for people to see the blood, sweat, tears, and of course, blood, that everyone involved has put into this film».

Markiplier, born Mark Edward Fischbach on June 28, 1989, is one of the most influential creators in online entertainment. With over 37 million subscribers on YouTube, he has built his career on energetic gaming videos, particularly horror game playthroughs, as well as comedic sketches, interactive series, and vlogs. Growing up in Ohio after being born in Honolulu to a German-American father and a Korean mother, he initially studied biomedical engineering but dropped out to fully dedicate himself to YouTube in 2012.
Since then, Markiplier has significantly expanded his horizons beyond gaming content. He has co-created major original YouTube projects such as «Heist with Markiplier» and «In Space with Markiplier», - launched successful podcasts, and gained recognition for his charity streams that have raised millions for causes like cancer research. He is also actively involved in acting and voice work—and now he is making his feature film directorial debut with «Iron Lung», - a self-funded adaptation of the viral horror game in which he also stars.
