Shannen Doherty’s mother, Rosa Doherty, released her first statement after her daughter’s death on Monday, July 15. Rosa thanked fans for the many kind words following Shannen’s death at the age of 53 on Saturday, July 13. She also paid a short tribute to the star of the series «Charmed» after her passing.
Rosa spoke about her connection with her daughter and said that they felt the love that fans shared with Shannen throughout her career. «She is my beautiful girl and my heart», - she told Entertainment Tonight. «Our family wants to thank everyone who showed love and support to our Shannen throughout her life. We are sincerely grateful».
Shannen passed away after a battle with breast cancer on Saturday. Her longtime publicist announced her passing in a statement. «It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after a long struggle with the disease», - he said.
Before her death, Shannen spoke about her relationship with her mother in the April episode of her podcast. She shared that her mother was one of her top priorities, continuing to fight cancer. She said she was working on getting rid of some of her things so her mom wouldn’t have to worry. «I know it will be hard for her if I die before her», - she said. «Because it will be so hard for her, I want other things to be much easier. I don’t want her to have four storage units filled with furniture».
Although the process of going through things was difficult, Shannen admitted that she was able to enjoy traveling with her mom. «I can create different memories — I can create memories with people I love. I’m not spending money from my inheritance, which will provide care for everyone in my life», - she said
