Michael Douglas talks about conversation with Rob Reiner about sons
Michael Douglas shared memories of his close bond with the late Rob Reiner, noting their shared experiences related to their sons' struggles with drug issues. In an excerpt from his new autobiography «One Helluva Ride», - published on October 5 in the Los Angeles Times, Douglas recounted a conversation with Reiner before his tragic death.

According to Douglas, both faced serious problems with their sons related to drugs and at times felt hopeless. «It was a heartbreaking admission for us, but I know we brought each other some comfort in difficult times», - he wrote.

Douglas’s son, Cameron Douglas, previously struggled with addiction and was arrested in 2009 for selling methamphetamine and cocaine. He was released from prison in 2016 and became sober, writing about his difficulties in his autobiography. Rob Reiner’s son, Nick Reiner, also had drug problems and underwent rehabilitation several times. In December 2025, he was charged with the murder of his parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner, who were found dead in their home last year.

In the days leading up to their deaths, Nick and Rob reportedly had an argument at a Christmas party hosted by Conan O’Brien. Nick was arrested and charged with his parents' murder. In February, he pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, and prosecutors confirmed they would not seek the death penalty in his case. A court hearing for Nick is scheduled for October 23.
