Miley Cyrus dedicated her concert in Hollywood to Dolly Parton
Miley Cyrus honored the memory of her late godmother Dolly Parton during her debut concert at the Hollywood Bowl. At the performance on October 16 in California, Cyrus, holding back tears, shared that the only time she saw Parton was at a concert in that very venue.

Cyrus recalled how much time she spent backstage and expressed her desire to perform alongside Parton in matching outfits. Parton, a longtime family friend of the Cyruses, performed at the Hollywood Bowl in 2011 and 2016, inviting Miley backstage to one of the shows.

Cyrus also shared a memory of her last conversation with Parton, when she said, «Dolly, I don’t want to perform tonight. I just want to sit in my seat and watch the show like everyone else». She remembered how Parton opened the concert by stating that «her goddaughter is Hannah Montana», - despite Cyrus’s wish to remain anonymous in the crowd.

Parton passed away in August at the age of 80 after battling cancer. Cyrus noted that she feels Parton’s presence more than ever and that her memory is very precious to her. «Dolly and I—we are eternal. Nothing in this life can separate us. And I will see her again. I miss her so much», - Cyrus added.

After Parton’s death, Cyrus also posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing her feelings of loss and emphasizing that Parton would want her to continue creating and being strong.
