Miranda Derrick’s sister, Melanie Wilking, spoke out against death threats directed at the TikTok star in a new interview with People on Tuesday, June 11. After Melanie participated in the Netflix documentary «Dances with the Devil: The TikTok Cult 7M», - Miranda took to social media to share how her sister and parents' involvement in the documentary led to threats and strained their relationships.

Melanie explained that she never intended for viewers to threaten her sister when she participated in the documentary, and she and her parents simply want the best for Miranda. «Of course, we never wanted violence to come to her, and I am very sorry that she went through that, because our only goal was to save her from an unsafe environment and give her love and know that we are here to support her», - she told People.

The documentary focuses on the talent agency 7M, owned by Robert Shinn, who is a pastor at the controversial Shekinah Church. The series claims that the pastor controls and shares the experiences of performers who were previously signed with 7M.

Although Miranda spoke out against the documentary, Melanie said that it is «not my real sister» making videos about it. «I know it’s from the church and from Robert. She is so loving and kind and loved our family, and so for her to point fingers at us, it’s just not her true essence», - she explained. «All the steps we took, trying to resolve this quietly for a year, then going live, and then making all these dancers and members leave, because we used our voice… all these things led to positive results, so I have to believe that my gut and intuition were right».

In Miranda’s statement, she talked about trying to improve relationships with her family, and she believes that their participation in the documentary hindered the progress they had made. Melanie said she does not believe her sister watched the documentary, and the family participated not only to improve their relationship with her, but also to ensure that others do not get involved with 7M or the church
